| These fabulous one-of-a-kind soft sculptures by Robin Foley are true originals. Each creation requires between 400 and 1000 hours of hand sewing. The pieces vary from outrageous mythical beasts to seductive temptresses that are inspired by everything from classic Greek literature to old pin-up posters. Sizes range from 16" to 24" tall. |
For the pieces that reveal bare skin (i.e. nudes and semi-nudes), anatomical accuracy is achieved through the understanding of both human and animal anatomy. the dominant feature of the construction includes sculpting one muscle at a time over a wire skeleton; adding a nylon skin; airbrushing realistic as well as dramatic skin tones; and finally applying another translucent skin layer to create the look of living flesh. |
| Only the finest materials such as silks, velvets and brocades are used for clothing the figures. Hair is created by the application of individual strands of Mohair. Finger nails and claws are hand formed from acrylic resins. |
Whether the piece depicts a classic beauty or a wild beast of fantasy, each muscle, layer of skin and costume combine in concert creating and unforgettable emotionally, engaging image. |
